Today was the day of iguanas. First we explored the South Plazas island where we saw the common variety of land iguana, nocturnal seagull, and several (baby) sea lions.
The beautiful landscape of red plants is unique to the island.
After lunch we went snorkeling. We saw an amazing array of creatures, our first sharks (7 in total) -the non-aggressive to humans white tip shark, tons of tropical fish and 3 different kinds of rays (marbled, eagle and diamond). On top of that we got to swim with some sea turtles and sea lions!
Then we headed out on Santa Fe Island itself, where we saw more sea lions and our first Galapagos dove.
Santa Fe is also the only island where the surprisingly named Santa Fe land iguanas can be found. We were lucky enough to spot three! They were not as pretty as the common land iguanas.
