Day 164 Jungle Exploration 18 July 2012

We took another jungle cruise at dawn and were, again very lucky to see 2 huge (easily twice the size of Martijn around 4 meters/12 feet) crocodiles. One was swishing its tail back and forth while swimming and the other was resting on the bank of the river.  We also saw some more birds, monkeys and a monitor lizard.

After breakfast we went on a 6km/4mile jungle hike. Apart from a lot of mud and huge insects we did not see too much wild life, however we did spot a white-fronted falconet (a bird our guide had not spotted in over 4years- he was very excited!).

In the afternoon we took another jungle cruise after experiencing a huge rainstorm. We managed to see even more monkeys, including a baby long-tail macaque and a species we had not seen before, the silver lutung! Unfortunately we did not bring our camera along for fear of more intense rain.
At night we went for another muddy jungle trek. The highlight was Ana losing her rain boot in the mud and two very colorful birds sleeping on a branch.
