You know you’re a backpacker when…
You climb three stories up with a 17kg/37lbs* backpack on your back and a daypack on your front.
You take the local bus with about seven other backpackers and thirty locals.
You are happy your guesthouse has internet even if you have to share the bathroom.
We left the freezing Cameron Highlands and headed back to Kuala Lumpur to catch a connecting bus to Melaka. We were on the bus for 6 hours in total but we didn’t feel a minute of it since we both managed to sleep- albeit Martijn more deeply than Ana.
When we arrived in Melaka, a former Dutch colonial town, we made our way through Chinatown to find our guesthouse. We relaxed for a bit and then headed out to find dinner. On our hunt for food we found this bodybuilding inspiration!
We think Arnold Schwarzenegger should follow his example and get his own gigantic gold statute. Maybe at Venice Beach?
The first place we intended to go to was closed for the day. The second place, according to Martijn’s excellent map reading skills was right here!
Discouraged and now very hungry we made it back to Chinatown and found a nice place where we tried the rice balls with roasted chicken. In the end a nice find!
*We know this weight from the most recent flight.
