Day 162 More Monkey Madness 16 July 2012

Orangutans were on the menu for today! We headed out to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre for a morning feeding. We were able to see two young orangutans who were in rehabilitation where they are gradually reintroduced to the jungle after being rescued, cared for medically and trained to survive independently. The process can take up to 10 years. The center is the largest and most successful in the world.

Besides orangutans there were long and short tailed macaques. This one didn’t mind Martijn sitting next to him,
until Martijn proved that boys will be boys and touched the tip of its tail!
We spent the afternoon in the Rainforest Discovery Centre where we were able to take a canopy walk and have some fun on a suspension bridge.

We returned to the orangutan rehabilitation center for the afternoon feeding and were lucky enough to see a mom and her baby eating.
After the long day we were happy to return to our eco-lodge.
