Day 202 Great Barrier Reef 25 August 2012

We went on a snorkeling tour to Macay Reef- one of the more unspoiled spots of the Great Barrier Reef!

We were blown away by all the different colorful fish we saw. Unfortunately we did not find Nemo or spot sea turtles but we did manage to see among others a sting ray, a HUGE Napoleon fish and a long skinny fish. The coral itself was amazing! They varied from blue forests to spaghetti coral. You have to take our word for it since our camera is not waterproof!
After lunch back at the campsite we left paradise and headed south. We visited Mossman Gorge, part of Daintree National Park a world heritage site.

Here we took a 3km walk and dipped into the refreshing (read ice cold) swimming hole.
We managed to see two world heritage sites today- but no Cassowaries!
Back in Cairns we walked by the Esplanade and took another swim in the lagoon (a public man-made salt water swimming pool).
Since life in a campervan takes some getting used to we stopped by Subway for dinner.
