Following the advice of several Singaporean people we then took a shuttle to the Night Safari at the Singapore zoo, which is actually a totally different zoo as the one open during the day time next door.
We went to the animal show, took a tram safari, and walked 4 trails that ultimately lead us to the highlight of the evening: the bat cave. In here literally hundreds of fruit bats were flying around us - you could feel the wind from their wings when they moved right past us. Besides the smaller ones, huge flying foxes were also present (with a wingspan up to 5 feet/1.5 m), thank goodness they were less active. After some initial scares, we stayed for quite some time watching them eat and fly around: we’ve come a long way from being trapped in our hotel room on our honeymoon because there was a little bat in the hallway.
