It began with a 45min uphill climb in the dark to Poon Hill to catch the sunrise over the Annapurna Range of the Himalayas.
The group finally got a taste of Ana’s morning wrath. It was the perfect storm- crack of dawn, no breakfast, cold, icy, dark, steep, strenuous, and the group was waiting for us just to start again when we finally arrived- something that was already getting under Ana’s skin from the previous two days- we’re slow- so she let them know “just because I am going slow does not mean I am not putting in the same effort, I have done what everyone else has done just at my pace and I also want to rest and catch my breath- so don’t do me any favors by waiting for me just to take off when I get there!”

At the summit of the hill a hot cup of tea and a beautiful sunrise waited patiently for us.

Back at the guesthouse we had a well deserved breakfast before we headed up another hill that gave us a nice view of Poon Hill. Here we also found a cairn to which we added another two little stones.

The day could have easily ended there, but it dragged on- with an icy descent and for a final and swift kick in the behind another 1000 irregular steps up a different mountain.

Besides the early morning outburst, Ana complained only three times out loud, not bad, all things considered, including a call of nature that was literally just down the path of the village where we would stay for the night, which is a lot more challenging for Ana than Martijn.
