Day 367 Officially Around the World 6 February 2013

After 367 days we have finally managed to travel all the way around the world! We cannot believe it!

In the Netherlands we were picked up my Martijn’s entire family, including his now one year old nephew Cooper! Cooper was the first person Martijn saw as we were coming out of baggage claim.

We had the most amazing trip, which we will never forget! Thank you so much for reading along the way!

Day 366 Travel Day 5 February 2013

We spent the day driving from Orlando back to Miami, returning the rental car and boarding our flight to London.

Day 365 Rest Day 4 February 2013

Our day consisted of sleeping in, taking it easy, eating at Souplantation and repacking. Sorry, no photo for today.

Day 364 Disney World 3 February 2013

Today we visited the reason why we drove to Orlando, the Magic Kingdom in Disney World. We picked Superbowl Sunday and hoped that most Americans would stay away and we would have shorter lines. We ended up making a good guess with the date since we were able to enter all attractions (max wait was 50min), making our day even happier at the Happiest Place on Earth.

This is Perry*the Platypus, Ana's new favorite Disney character from Phineas*and Ferb, a cartoon show she watched around the world whenever we had a television.

Ana shared many favorites with Martijn like the TikiTiki Room, the Country Bear Jamboree, Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse and her new favorite The Little Mermaid.

Martijn just could not believe Ana beat him in Buzz Lightyear's shoot-out. The look on his face when he saw the points Ana earned is priceless!

We are young at heart and rides like Autopia and Dumbo give us giant smiles!

Day 363 Drive to Orlando 2 February 2013

We drove the four hours to Orlando. On the way we saw one of the Gulf Coast beaches.
Upon arriving in Orlando we found an old favorite restaurant we tried during a trip to Boston years ago, Uno Chicago Grill. The food was still great!

Martijn thinks it is always funny how Ana poses with food, he decided to have some fun and pose with his dinner.

Day 362 Paddle and a Hike 1 February 2013

Yesterday we heard from the park ranger that the bicycle tour we did was actually part of a triathlon, the Tamiami Trail Triathlon. Intrigued as we were we decided to complete the triathlon today and claim our prize!
The second leg was a 3 mile round trip kayak tour from the Gulf Coast visitor center to Sandfly Island. The kayaking offered us a totally different view of Everglades National Park than yesterday. We were lucky enough to spot some dolphins and pelicans.

After we were clearly lost we Martijn had to get out of the kayak to set us free again since we got stuck in the sand as it became low tide while we paddled out to the island.

After we finally found the island (everything looks a bit alike here) we walked the one mile loop to discover that this island actually had been inhabited in the past. We also found a lot of shells of horseshoe crabs.

We continued for the final leg of the triathlon, a 3 mile hike in the Cyprus National Preserve near the Oasis visitor center. The hike itself was a bit disappointing but we encountered several different landscapes, and met more alligators close to the center.

We found a pair of gators that reminded us of us!

After completion we were finishers of the Tamiami Trail Traithlon! We have our prize - a sticker- to prove it! We celebrated our victory at Cracker Barrel with fish, baked sweet potatoes and sugared carrots.
