Day 3 One for the animals

We hit the ground rolling at 6:45 am with a bike tour through Old Delhi. The bike tour operator was Delhi*By*Cycle, set up by a Dutch man, and we highly recommend it on your visit.

Cows, dogs, donkeys, horses, monkeys, goats and oxen were just a few of the animals we saw during our morning ride. As well as about a million people waking up and preparing for the day.
A huge rat ran into the back wheel of Martijn’s bike! A huge and fuzzy rat which seemed unreal- the entire experience reminded Martijn of the Fata Morgana attraction at the Efteling, but a little more lifelike.

Here we are on the rooftop of the spice market.

Seconds later a black bird attacked my nest of hair- after which I put in a braid.

Chai tea break.

Seconds later a big plop of bird poop landed on Ana’s right hand as she gripped the bike. Yay for Good luck! But really gross! The tour ended having breakfast (lovely goat curry) at Karim’s, “born” in 1913, one of the most famous establishments around.

The afternoon was spent at Lodi Park. We signed autographs for a bunch of school girls having lunch. We met a local who said he knew the best place for an afternoon snack at Khan Market so be hopped on a local bus- fare paid by him- and went to Khan Chacha for paneer roti (cheese that tastes like chicken in a wrap). Afterwards we took the metro- through high security and in separate cars (female only and one similar to Brussels metro at peak hour but then with filled with staring men) – back to the hotel where we were going to just take a nap before dinner and ended up sleeping through until 7am the next morning.
